Will Kyren Williams become one of the top-100 running backs of all-time? If so, the Rams’ current starter could become the seventh running back in the history of the franchise worthy of that designation. L.A. already has six of the top-75, according to one website.
Windy City Gridiron published a list of the top-100 running backs of all-time, and Marshall Faulk led the Rams’ group by ranking fifth overall.
- 5th: Marshall Faulk
- 10th: Eric Dickerson
- 23rd: Jerome Bettis
- 49th: Steven Jackson
- 51st: Todd Gurley
- 73rd: Dan Fowler
The top Rams rushers not on the list are Lawrence McCutcheon, Dick Bass, and Williams.
For what
it’s worth, Reggie Bush ranked 98th. Is Williams already better than Bush?
Bush had 5,490 rushing yards in 11 seasons (41 yards per game), plus 3,598 receiving yards (27 yards per game). Williams is averaging 69.7 rushing yards and 13.5 receiving yards per game. That means Kyren is averaging more RUSHING yards per game than Bush averaged TOTAL yards per game
Williams has more 1,000-yard rushing seasons than Bush’s entire career so far.
Some other players towards the end of the list:
- 91st: Nick Chubb
- 92nd: Mark Ingram
- 93rd: Aaron Jones
- 94th: Jamal Anderson
- 97th: Willis McGahee
- 99th: Jahmyr Gibbs
Would one more 1,000-yard season in 2026 put Kyren Williams in the top-100?
Should Faulk be higher?
Here were the top-5:
- Walter Payton
- Jim Brown
- Barry Sanders
- Emmitt Smith
- Marshall Faulk
Would you put Faulk above Smith? I think most people would.
Dickerson was ranked right below Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson. Steven Jackson was between Chuck Foreman and Tiki Barber. Then came Gurley, who was right above Jamaal Charles.
Fair?
The Rams have employed two of the top-10 running backs of all-time, and arguably four of the top-50.
Kyren Williams was not highly touted coming out of college, but his streak of 1,1oo-yard seasons could put him over the top soon.
