The long awaited rematch from last year’s Elite Eight has arrived. No. 17 Tennessee will face No. 3 Houston this evening in Las Vegas with both sides looking to stay undefeated. Tennessee got things started
on Monday afternoon with an 85-60 win over Rutgers. Houston beat Syracuse, 78-74.
Tennessee gave us two surprises on Monday with both Bishop Boswell and J.P. Estrella returning to action after missing time with injuries. The Volunteers will been both guys tonight as they face a team that many believe could be the best in the country.
Kelvin Sampson brought back Emmanuel Sharp and added stud freshman guard Kingston Flemings. Both average more than 16 points per game.
Tennessee will counter with Ja’Kobi Gillespie who is coming off of a 32 point performance on Monday. Nate Ament scored 20, once again stuffing the stat sheet.
“It’s a tough three games for everyone out here,” Rick Barnes said on Monday. “And just great respect for Kelvin. We’ve known each other as long as anybody in business, and great respect for Kelvin and his team. We’ll get back and do everything pretty much in the ballroom, get ready. We know it’s going to be a hard, physical game. We know each other.”
