Alexander Nübel’s Bayern Munich career, since signing in 2021, has been been full of bitter notes amid a frustrating wait for Manuel Neuer to finally take a step back. It seems that the wait will have been for naught, however, as a combination of Neuer extending his stay at Bayern until 2027 and Jonas Urbig clearly being groomed to be his successor sees the current VfB Stuttgart loanee out in the cold. Sporting director Christoph Freund has already confirmed as much.
After 4 years straight out on
loan, the Bavarians will finally look to offload Nübel. Sky Sport’s German division reports the current stand of things (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayern want €10-15m for Alexander Nübel. There are no concrete enquiries for the goalkeeper as things stand.
However, Nübel’s contract will not make selling him easy for the Bavarians. As per Capology, the younger former Schalke 04 goalkeeper earns 8 million euros plus an added potential 2 million in bonuses on a contract that runs until 2030. It is a big contract. Getting a club to agree to take his wages and pay money could prove to be an obstacle.
However, it would be surprising if interest in Nübel did not eventually materialize. At 29 years of age, he is at a prime age for goalkeepers and has enjoyed a strong 2025/26 season. His big contract and resulting wage demands will be an obstacle in the talks but teams in the English Premier League could surely afford the transfer.
