Lamine Yamal says Spain don’t fear anyone at World Cup 2026 after booking a last 16 tie against Portugal by beating Austria 3-0.
Luis de la Fuente’s side impressed on Thursday by cruising past Ralf Rangnick’s men thanks to two goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and one from Pedro Porro.
Yamal was asked about how he’s feeling about his team’s hopes and is relishing the chance to take on Cristiano Ronaldo and Co.
“We have to keep improving, in our play and intensity, but we know the quality we have and we aren’t
afraid of any team; we are Spain. We have to show it on the field, but we have faith in ourselves,” he told reporters.
“It would be an honor to play against Cristiano , obviously, but I’m focused on winning the game and I don’t care who gets through.”
Yamal also spoke about his family after his little brother stole some of the headlines with his epic reaction to Spain’s third goal against Austria that quickly went viral on social media.
“It moves me to see my brother happy, my mother living the life she’s always dreamed of, my friends… it means everything to me. My brother is like a son to me, and I’m in love with him,” he added.
