Good morning, Broncos Country!
Zach Allen is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL.
He’s a leader for one of the best defenses in the league. We already know that Allen was No. 73 on the NFL’s Top 100 list.
But the Denver Broncos defensive tackle told The Denver Post on Thursday that the defense will set an NFL record this season. Allen said he expects the Broncos to break the NFL record for sacks in a season.
As Allen said to the Post:
“In this league, you’ve kind of always got to keep on finding ways to get better and adjusting
and all that. It also helps when you’ve got ‘V.J.’ (defensive coordinator Vance Joseph) dialing stuff up that helps us get one-on-ones. We’ve got a lot of good guys, and that’s going to create a lot of opportunities for people. We came close to the sack record last year, and we fully expect to break it this year.”
Allen pointed out that Denver almost set the NFL sacks record last season. The Broncos finished with 68 sacks on the season, with the record being 72 set by the Chicago Bears in 1984.
With a player like Allen, on top of one of the best pass rushers in the league in Nik Bonitto, and Joseph calling the defense, the Broncos could absolutely break the record this season.
