This is a major development for the Eagles and the entire NFC East, with perennial playoff contender Philadelphia now operating without its starting quarterback.
Hurts is dealing with a serious medical condition and thoughts are with him and his health above any NFL rivalry.
But, if we’re speaking strictly in football terms, the Commanders benefit from not playing a quarterback who has an 8-3 record against them and was instrumental in dealing Washington a Week 1 loss in Philadelphia.
The Commanders have one game between then and now, with a Monday night game at San Francisco and a Week 7 bye.
