The Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 8 road game against the Washington Commanders will remain on Sunday Night Football despite previous reporting that it was in consideration to be flexed.
The NFL gave thought to moving the 1:00 PM start between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns into that SNF slot before ultimately keeping Eagles-Commanders instead, according to the Inquirer’s Rob Tornoe.
It’s surprising that the league did not move this NFC East battle out of the primetime spotlight. The Eagles
have lost four straight games to drop to 2-4 … while also losing starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the season. The Commanders are 1-4-1 this season and 0-7-1 in Jayden Daniels’ last eight starts. It’s not exactly looking like a marquee matchup.
Then again, the Eagles and Commanders are both very much alive in their very bad division. And if the Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7 (a big if considering they’re 4.5-point home underdogs), the Eagles can reach .500 with a win in Landover, Maryland.
One would hope the Eagles won’t make us all stay up late just to watch them stink again.
