The Premier League season is beginning to take shape, and with four gameweeks already behind us, Fantasy Premier League managers are starting to get a clearer picture of which players they can rely on and which ones may need to be moved on.
Gameweek 5 is just around the corner, and many of us are looking to bounce back, climb the ranks, and make smarter transfer decisions.
This is my Gameweek 4 recap, how my team performed, and the plans I’m considering to turn things around for the upcoming gameweek.
Looking Back at Gameweek 4 in FPL
Gameweek 4 didn’t go the way I had hoped, with my team finishing on 52 points, which was 11 points below the average of 63. It was a frustrating week overall, but there were still some positives to build on as we move forward.
My defense was led by Micky van de Ven, who was easily the star of the week with a massive 14 points. My goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, only managed 2 points, which was a bit underwhelming given Chelsea’s recent form.
Dorgu and Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams, on the other hand, gave me very low points, so thank goodness for Van de Ven, who really came through and saved my defense last week.
In midfield, Mohamed Salah was my saving grace. I handed him the armband, and he delivered brilliantly with 18 points, reminding me why he’s one of the most reliable captaincy picks in FPL.
Bruno Fernandes gave me 5 points, and despite Manchester United’s heavy 3-0 loss to Manchester City, it was still a small boost in a tough week.
Reijnders was another standout for me, putting in an excellent performance in Manchester City’s dominant win over United, even though he didn’t bring in huge points.
Up front, Joao Pedro my v.captain for game week 4 stood out with a decent 7 points, showing that he can be a reliable forward option moving forward.
Richarlison, on the other hand, has now failed to find the net for the past two gameweeks. I’ve been holding on to him for a while longer, but he only managed 1 point in Gameweek 4, barely helping me reach the 52-point mark. I’m strongly considering moving him on soon if things don’t improve.
On my bench, Watkins and Esteve combined for 6 points. Something has to be done about Watkins; he’s been in my team since the start of the season, yet he still hasn’t found the net.
At this point, I’m completely out of patience and will likely look to replace him.

Looking at my team, it’s clear I need to make some changes, especially from my goalkeeper to my forwards. My midfield has been solid, so going into Gameweek 5, I just hope the moves I make will pay off.
FPL GW 5 Preview
I currently have one transfer available, but with the way my team is right now, I don’t think a single change will be enough. That’s why I’ve decided to use one of my chips, the Wildcard.

Using it, I brought in some fresh faces: from Arsenal, I added Raya and Timber, and from Newcastle, I brought in Livramento.
In my forwards, I added Wood, while my midfield mostly remains the same, except for bringing in Bournemouth’s Semenyo, who has been performing well so far this season.
That’s it, my team is ready for Game week 5, and my captain’s armband is still on Salah, who’s facing Everton.
