The 2027 recruiting class continues to gain momentum for the Texas Longhorns with Monday’s commitment from Humble Kingwood linebacker Cade Haug.
It was a quick recruitment of the 6’1, 220-pounder by the Longhorns — Texas extended its offer to Haug
last Wednesday.
Haug chose Texas over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Houston, Kansas State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pitt, UCF, and Utah, among others.
Over the last two seasons, Haug has been a prolific tackler for Kingwood, notching 153 tackles as a sophomore before recording 108 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and three sacks in 2025. In track, Haug posted a 11.34 100-meter dash last year, a solid time for a linebacker.
A consensus three-star prospect, Haug is ranked as the No. 438 player nationally and the No. 36 linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Haug is now the fifth commitment in the 2027 class for Texas, which slots 16th in the Composite team rankings.
