Hello Falcoholics, and welcome to the long holiday weekend! Training camp will be here before we know it, and in the meantime, I’m encouraging all the writers here to take it easy and enjoy the 4th. I’ll share some discussion posts through the weekend so if you need a break from the festivities or if it’s just too dang hot for you to be anywhere but inside, we’ll be right here talking Falcons.
Since it will likely be a bit slow around here this weekend, I also want to remind everyone that The Feed
is there for you to share your thoughts and start the conversation based on what you want to talk about! You can create a new Feed post by clicking here.
Today, let’s start with what we know about the team heading into camp. We’ve got questions around the quarterback position, how close Michael Penix may or may not be to returning from the knee injury he suffered last season, and what Tua Tagovailoa might do in this new-look Falcons offense. There are questions around the defensive identity after Kaden Elliss departed in free agency. And there are a million other questions that stem from having a largely new coaching staff and front office. All we can really do is make educated guesses here, so that’s what we’re gonna do.
What do you see as the best-case scenario for this team? I’m trying to temper my expectations because of the aforementioned questions. But after several years of 7-10 and 8-9 finishes, I see a winning record and a Wild Card spot as the best case scenario. I’m not asking for much.
As far as the worst-case scenario, I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious, and everything I’ve started to type feels like a jinx, so I’ll leave that one to y’all if you want to share. This team already seems to exist primarily to vex me. I’m not tempting fate.
Tell us what you think in the comments, and let’s discuss!
