In the wake of the shocking death of Benjamin Satterley on Sun., Sept. 27, there was some discussion and debate about how WWE remembered the man who wrestled for that company as Neville.
There was no need to debate how deeply the stars of WWE felt about their late co-worker, who over the past eight-plus years we’d known as AEW’s PAC. As we all tried to process Satterley’s death at just 40-years of age, his friends at WWE posted tearful goodbyes for and great stories about their friend Ben. Some of them
literally wore his name on their arm during Raw and SmackDown last week.
It was during SmackDown, apparently, that the video WWE released today (Oct. 7) featuring PAC’s friends and colleagues Kevin Owens, Becky Lynch, Cody Rhodes, Bayley, Sami Zayn, Big Cass, Rey Fenix & Penta, TJ “Tyson Kidd” Wilson, William Regal, Finn Bálor, and Corey Graves was taped.
WWE clearly distributed the video, and probably did most of the work editing it and cleaning it up too. But Rhodes revealed in a separate interview with WrestleTalk that it was KO who made it happen:
“I want to share something that was really nice — and I hope he doesn’t mind me sharing, but Kevin Owens, at the most recent TV, and I hope you get to see these, maybe they’ll just be for the family, but he had a camera set-up for all of us to go speak to if we wanted to speak about Ben.”
And it is really nice. Personally, I thought I was out of tears for PAC… at least for a while. I made it all the way to Bálor’s appearance in the WWE/KO video before they started again. But the main takeaways from everything everyone has said and done since two Sundays ago haven’t changed.
Those remain how loved and respected Satterley was, and as Penta said in the video, that he taught us one final lesson: Enjoy the present.
