ALABAMA 9, USC UPSTATE 0
Audrey Vandagriff has found new life here in the post-season. The Tide sophomore got things going in the 2nd inning with a 2 run homer.
Imagine what kind of season she could have had this season if she had been swinging the bat like that all year.
Kristen White led off the 3rd with an infield single. Jena Young chased her around the bases with her sixth round-tripper
of the season.
Brooke Wells followed that performance up with a homer of her own in the next at bat to make it 5-0 Tide.
The Crimson Tide added a sixth run in the 6th on a Wells double and another in the 7th on a Salen Hawkins single. Young closed out the scoring with a second 2-run homer.
Vic Moten (20-4) got the start in the circle and was rolling along. She also put up a defensive gem that is pretty impressive for a freshman.
Moten was one swing away from perfection. She pitched six innings of one hit ball with five strikeouts and no walks. Kaitlyn Pallozzi tossed a perfect 7th inning.
NOTES:
- Young finished 3 for 5 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored out of the leadoff spot.
- Hawkins picked up her first hit since Game 1 vs Tennessee on April 25.
- Wells home run total is up to 23. She is creeping up on Bailey Hemphill (26 in 2019) and Kelly Kretschman (25 in 1998) for most by a Tide player in a season.
