CMLL is hours away from their biggest event of the year. The sold-out 93rd Anniversary is stacked with a mask versus hair main event, four title bouts, a legend showdown, and more with talent from AEW, NJPW, and Stardom. Let’s catch up on news from the lucha libre promotion.
The 93rd Anniversary show takes place from Arena Mexico on Friday, September 18. Nine matches are on the card:
- Mask vs. Hair Suicide Final: Mistico & Averno vs. Ultimo Guerrero & Templario vs. Barbaro Cavernario & Dragon Rojo Jr. vs. Zandokan Jr. & Star Jr. (Winners advance to final to wrestle each other for mask or hair)
- CMLL World Heavyweight Championship: Hechicero (c) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Claudio Castagnoli
- Andrade El Idolo vs. Volador Jr.
- CMLL Women’s World Championship: Persephone (c) vs. Tessa Blanchard vs. Mina Shirakawa vs. Starlight Kid
- Bandido vs. Soberano Jr.
- CMLL World Welterweight Championship: Titan (c) vs. Komander
- CMLL World Tag Team Championship: Angel de Oro & Niebla Roja (c) vs. Los Villanos vs. Mascara Dorada & Neon vs. Los Calavera
- Blue Panther vs. Jeff Jarrett
- Sanely, Candela, & Kira vs. Maika, Mei Seira, Ema Maishima

CMLL stacked several shows over the past week in the lead up. Notable results start with Tessa Blanchard picking up momentum for the women’s world title bout. Blanchard defeated fellow challenger Starlight Kid in singles action.
Starlight Kid rebounded to win La Copa Viva Mexico.
Blanchard got the better of Starlight Kid again to win La Copa Independencia.

Persephone & Olympia prevailed in a three-way tag team bout against Starlight Kid & Maika and Megan Bayne & Lena Kross. Perse crushed a crucifix bomb to pin Maika.
Thunder Rosa successfully retained the Mexican National Women’s Championship over Dark Silueta.
Mascara Dorada defeated PAC off a shooting star press.
Bandido & Komander scored a high-flying victory on Soberano Jr. & Titan.
CMLL also introduced a new look for the world heavyweight championship held by Hechicero.
The final piece of news is Flip Gordon announcing that he reenlisted in the Army National Guard. This is the next chapter in his life, but his journey as a wrestler in CMLL is not over.
