Texas Longhorns forward Declan Duru entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday after playing one season under head coach Sean Miller and his staff.
The 6’8, 235-pounder has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Born in Germany, Duru spent five years in the Real Madrid youth development program, including playing in seven games for Real Madrid U19 in 2024-25,
averaging 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 25.0 minutes per game while shooting 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor. Duru also helped Germany win a silver medal in the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, reaching double figures in scoring in six of the seven games and averaging 11.4 points and 5.1 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per contest on 52.4-percent shooting.
Duru committed to Texas two days after the U19 World Cup ended as a late addition to Miller’s 2025 recruiting class. In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Duru was a consensus four-star prospect ranked as the No. 117 player overall and the No. 25 power forward.
After arriving in Austin, however, Duru struggled to break into the rotation, appearing in just 12 games and averaging 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.9 minutes per game. Duru finished 5-of-7 shooting around the basket, but missed all five of his three-point attempts and all three of his free throws while turning the ball over four times with no assists. In conference play, Duru played six minutes in two games, recording a rebound and a personal foul in the blowout loss to Tennessee.
Duru is the fourth Texas player to enter the portal in the current window, joining guard Simeon Wilcher, forward Cam Heide, and forward Nic Codie.
