We’re inching closer to “counting down the days to the start of spring training” territory, but we’re not quite there yet. We’ve still got to maintain this holding pattern we’ve been in for what feels
like eternity, the Yankees’ Groundhog Day of an offseason ticking by day by day. Any one of these days could be the one where the Cody Bellinger bubble pops, or when the Yankees add a pitcher. Or, we could continue to twiddle our thumbs.
On the site today, it’s a fun one in our Yankees Birthday series, as Sam gives it up for Alfonso Soriano. Elsewhere, Jeremy recounts the sad tale of Hideki Irabu as part of our Free Agency series, Josh wonders how far up the career strikeout leaderboard Giancarlo Stanton could climb, and Michael takes a look at Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner as a potential trade target.
Questions/Prompts:
1. If you could only have one of Cody Bellinger, or a new starting pitcher, which would you choose?
2. Should the big bats still on the market (Kyle Tucker, Bo Bichette, Alex Bregman) be worried now that they’ve been out there so long, or will they still sign contracts that come close to or exceed expectations?
