With a trio of games canceled over the weekend due to rain, we are through one week of the Arizona Fall League with just three games played. Let’s take a look at how the Braves representatives have looked
through the week.
(1-2) Glendale Desert Dogs
Position Players
•Jim Jarvis: 1-for-3, BB, SB
Jim appeared in one game and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a caught stealing – both in the same inning in his 2025 AFL debut.
•Nacho Alvarez Jr: 1-for-4, 2B, 2 BB
Nacho appeared in one game so far and got on base three times including an opposite field double. Position was of note, as the Braves are clearly blocked at 3B for the foreseeable future, however Nacho appeared just at DH in a move that was made to increase his total number at bats after a injury limited 2025 campaign.
•Patrick Clohisy, 3-for-7, 2 BB, 2B, 5 SB
Patrick appeared in two games and has put his mark on the AFL. He’s collect three hits, with one double, and walked twice. While on the base pads, Patrick has stolen five bases in those two games. Patrick finished the season with 79 stolen bases on 96 attempts (82% success rate) and has had an extremely strong 2025.
Pitchers
•Jhancarlos Lara, 1IP 0H 0ER 2BB 0K
The flame throwing Lara has appeared in one game and worked a scoreless inning. The velocity was there, however the command wasn’t as he walked a pair of batters. That said, he still worked a scoreless inning.
•LJ McDonough, 2IP 3H 2ER 1BB 1K
L.J. has worked a pair of games for the Desert Dogs and it hasn’t gone exactly the way he wanted to. He’s struggled generating whiffs and has given up three hits and two earned runs over those two appearances. The velocity is still apparent, sitting in the mid-t0-high 90s, but the contact has been an issue.
•Cory Wall, 1IP 2H 2ER 2BB 0K
Cory made a name for himself in spring as he represented the Braves quite a few times in spring training – a surprising feat for someone that was in A+ ball, but at 25 the Braves pushed him and he had a very solid 2025 campaign. He was sent to the AFL and has appeared in just one game, but struggled – giving up a pair of hits and a pair of walks, giving up two earned runs.
