Ajax defender Youri Baas has emerged as another potential option for Barcelona as the club continue to search for defensive reinforcements.
According to Diario Sport, Baas is well liked by Barcelona for his versatility, youth and height. The Catalans feel he has the right profile for Hansi Flick’s side and value his experience.
Baas is still only 23 but has emerged as a leader for Ajax and is being tipped to be called into the Netherlands national team shortly.
Indeed Sport seem confident that Baas has a good chance of making his international debut following Xavi Hernandez’s arrival as manager of the Oranje, describing him as the new ‘Íñigo Martínez or Aymeric Laporte.’
Baas certainly appears very much on Barcelona’s radar currently, with the Catalans also reportedly looking at other options including Ruud Nijstad, Arthur Dias, Piero Hincapie and Vitor Reis.
