John Yannis kicked off UFC Winnipeg by knocking out Canadian fighter Jamie Siraj in the first round.
Siraj never had anything for Yannis, who was just too crisp and technical for the Vancouver fighter. Yannis caught Siraj flush on the chin early and nearly finished the fight then. A few more clashes saw Yannis landing with power right on the chin until he dropped Siraj to the canvas. A few elbows from on top was all it took for the referee to stop the fight at 2:43 of R1.
“Hey Canada, I know I did your boy like that,” Yannis said to the booing crowd. “But I hope I earned somebody’s respect. Let’s go!”
Jamie Siraj drops to 14-4 and 0-1 in the UFC. Yannis climbs to 1-1 in the UFC with a 10-4 MMA record overall.
While that TKO knockout was good for a $25,000 finish bonus, we doubt it’ll be good enough for a $100,000 performance bonus.
