During the offseason, Cleveland Browns fans vote in SB Nation Reacts to express their confidence level in the team or their thoughts on other topics.
This week, we asked one question to Browns fans, which
was how interested they’d be in Cleveland including former Bills head coach Sean McDermott in their head coaching search.
94% of fans think McDermott should be interviewed by the Browns, while 6% of fans think it’s not necessary at this point, considering the team is already several weeks into their coaching search. Not only that, but most fans also think that McDermott should be the top candidate on the market for Cleveland to try making a push for.
So far, though, we haven’t heard a peep about the Browns bringing McDermott in for an interview. Instead, we’re hearing stories about candidates dropping out of the Browns’ race. In the case of a guy like Mike McDaniel, it seemed like maybe he dropped out because he was taking the Chargers’ offensive coordinator job — but then came the news that he is still interviewing for the Bills’ head coaching job. In the case of of Jesse Minter, he turned down the Browns’ next interview to accept the Ravens’ head coaching vacancy.
As for McDermott, Bills fans don’t seem to be happy about him being fired. We haven’t heard any other teams linked to McDermott thus far, so I think the jury is still out. He would clearly be a top candidate for the remaining teams needing a coach, but the question is, will he be wanting a job, or will he hold steady until another year?
