What to watch for
You may have noticed that I haven’t written as much lately. Well, it’s for a simple reason: I’ve been on my annual summer vacation. So a big shout out to Kevin Broom and Greg Finberg
for posting about the Mystics’ performance over the last two and a half weeks.
On to the Mystics themselves. Washington has gradually improved their record to 18-12. They have won six consecutive games, their last three before the All Star Break and their first three since the break ended. The Mystics are now sixth place in the league though that’s because they have played fewer games than the 19-13 Dallas Wings and New York Liberty.
Here’s something else that I find remarkable about this win streak. The Mystics have won all six of these games by single digits. As a matter of fact, the Mystics have won all but two of their games by single digits.
Finally, the Mystics also have the WNBA’s longest current win streak!
The Mercury have lost three of their last four games, which include a 75-72 loss to the Connecticut Sun last night. They have a 12-21 record, so Washington should be favored to finish their long homestand with a win, even if Kelsey Plum is the Mercury’s latest acquisition.
