The Arizona Cardinals drafted Marvin Harrison, Jr. fourth overall during the 2024 NFL Draft.
Through two games he’s caught just a single pass for 33 yards. Across three seasons he has put together a level of production that you’d expect in a single year for a superstar receiver: 104 receptions for 1,526 yards and 12 touchdowns.
It’s clear that Harrison hasn’t been the player the Cardinals expected. He’s an afterthought in the 2026 offense under Mike LaFleur. The Cardinals just signed their best receiver,
Michael Wilson, to a three-year, $75M deal.
Would Arizona seriously consider cutting their losses and trade away Harrison? The Cardinals will be one of the top contenders for a quarterback in the 2027 draft class but may be too good to land the first overall pick. Equipping yourself with extra ammunition is never a bad idea if you need to move up a few slots to get your guy.
If the Cardinals decide to move on, these are the most logical landing spots for the former fourth overall pick:
Los Angeles Rams
It’s clear the Rams have a third receiver problem. Heck, with Puka Nacua’s uncertain injury status, they might actually have a starting receiver problem.
Davante Adams is unlikely to be on the roster in 2027. Nacua’s contract is set to expire at the end of the year. In addition to an immediate need, the Rams also must consider their long-term succession plan at receiver.
Sean McVay is the right person to take a struggling receiver from another team and then maximize his superpowers in Los Angeles. LA is missing draft capital from their acquisition of Myles Garrett, but we know they are aggressive and are looking to maximize a Super Bowl window.
Las Vegas Raiders
To everyone’s surprise, the Raiders have started the season 2-0. They also accomplished this feat without their top receiving threat in Brock Bowers.
But even with Bowers, Vegas lacks quality and depth at receiver. They already have their quarterback of the future in Fernando Mendoza. If you’re tracking to achieve better outcomes than expected, why not acquire Mendoza’s go-to receiver of the future?
New England Patriots
The Patriots already made a splash move at receiver by acquiring AJ Brown from the Eagles. Other teams, like the Rams, were scared off of Brown’s injury history and late-career trajectory. This line of thought proved wise as Brown is currently set to miss the next month after suffering an injury in the season opener.
New England was being proactive and attempting to surround Drake Maye with more dangerous weaponry. It was the right idea. The execution doesn’t seem to be there. Could they try again?
Indianapolis Colts
This fit makes sense until you realize the amount of draft capital the Colts are already missing because of the Sauce Gardner trade. Indianapolis traded away Michael Pittman to the Steelers and chose to keep Alec Pierce on a long-term contract. Pierce is now out for at least the next four games.
The Colts’ moves are telling us they need to win now. Trotting out the ghost of Keenan Allen, Laquon Treadwell, and a lackluster receiving corps says otherwise.
While Indy may not have sufficient draft capital to make this move, their depth chart is screaming “help!”
Kansas City Chiefs
I don’t understand the Chiefs’ reluctance to surround Patrick Mahomes with a competent receiver group. Harrison would be an immediate upgrade over any of their other options. KC has serious salary cap challenges short-term. Fortunately, Harrison is on a rookie deal and that should be manageable enough.
