The Detroit Lions’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams feels like the last slip-up this team can afford. While there are unlikely paths for Detroit to get in with a 2-1 finish in their last three games, the reality
is Detroit almost certainly needs to win out, and even if they do, there’s a small chance the Lions still don’t make the playoffs.
So if the Lions want to win the Super Bowl this year, that means they essentially need to win seven straight games: three to finish off the regular season and four in the postseason. For a team that hasn’t won back-to-back games since Week 4/5, that seems like a really tough ask. Add on top that Detroit hasn’t beaten a true contender since their Week 2 blowout against the Bears, and it feels even more likely.
So, what do we make of the rest of the regular season? Will they even be able to win out? How do we like their chances against the Bears in Week 18? How different is Chicago from their Week 2 matchup in Detroit? And… is it worth it? Is it worth it for this team to make the postseason if they can’t hang with the league’s best, or is there still time for the Lions to figure things out and make a deep run?
On this week’s PODcast, we discuss all of that, while breaking down everything that went right and wrong in the 41-34 loss to the Rams. You can find our discussion on any of your favorite podcasting apps or in the Spotify embed below:
