The 2026 season did not go as planned for Arizona, which instead of building off another College World Series appearance had one of the worst records in program history. Now the slate the Wildcats will use to try and return to form has been revealed.
The UA’s 55-game schedule for 2027 includes 30 games at Hi Corbett Field with 13 coming against teams that made the NCAA Tournament. That includes Big 12 champion Kansas
and CWS participant West Virginia.
Arizona opens play at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas on Feb. 19 against defending national champion Oklahoma. The Wildcats will also face Virginia and Clemson at Globe Life Field.
The 2027 home opener is Feb. 23 vs. UNLV ahead of a 3-game series at former Pac-12 rival UCLA. The Bruins were the No. 1 overall seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament.
Arizona will play the final 10 games before Big 12 play at home, hosting San Diego and Lamar in series, playing single games against Washington and Seattle and finishing preseason play with two against Rice.
Big 12 play begins March 19-21 at Baylor. The Wildcats’ first conference home series is March 25-27 vs. Utah, followed by a nonconference matchup with ASU. Arizona plays a league series at ASU April 16-18.
Arizona’s other home series are against TCU (April 9-11), Oklahoma State (April 23-25), West Virginia (May 7-9) and Kansas (May 20-22).
The UA will also have a handful of fall exhibition games, including Oct. 1 against Naranjeros de Hermosillo at the Mexican Baseball Fiesta at Kino Stadium.
Hicks back for 2027
Right-handed pitcher Garrett Hicks, who led Arizona in ERA and saves last season, announced on Instagram on Thursday he was returning to Arizona for a third season. The move was in connection to a federal judge’s ruling granting a fifth year of eligibility to student-athletes who graduated from high school in 2022.
Hicks was 3.2 with a 3.94 ERA and six saves in 21 appearances last season. He struck out 28 batters in 29.2 innings. A transfer from Pima College, Hicks was 5-2 with two saves in 34 games in 2025.
