While the Las Vegas Raiders are preparing for their Week 2 AFC West matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers, both teams are 1-0, on Monday night (kickoff is at 7 p.m. PT), there is a major situation to monitor regarding their Week 3 opponent.
NFL Media reported Monday morning that Washington Commanders star second-season quarterback Jayden Daniels has a knee sprain that has put his availability to plat against the visiting Raiders in doubt Sunday.
The report sated Daniels’ issue is not expected to be long-term, but the fact that his playing status already considered “in doubt” six days before the game is an indication that he may not play this week. if Daniels can’t play, the Raiders will face backup quarterback Marcs Mariota. Of course, he was the Raiders’ backup in 2020-21.
Mariota, 31, is a capable backup, but it would be a major downgrade from Daniels and it would be a huge advantage for the visiting Raiders. So, this is definitely something to monitor this week.
