It’s Monday, and we are back at it! Fresh off a weekend of football games, there was a lot of action! News will continue to come your way, and we are here for it all. Check out our original coverage and what
we can find from the World Wide Web below.
Rams pull off an upset against Bulldogs
In a result no one saw coming, Colorado State pulled off a convincing win on Friday night over Fresno State. The Rams jumped out to a 14-0 lead from the get-go and were in total control, with a commanding 35-14 lead at halftime. They used a balanced offensive attack, with three passing touchdowns and 190 rushing yards to go along with three rushing touchdowns. Add on four turnovers, including two pick-sixes, and it was a surprisingly dominant win over the 5-1 Bulldogs.
Rebels hang on, are going bowling.
Both teams were on brand in this game, but the question was whether either trend would break. Air Force is experiencing an offensive explosion, but keeps losing shootouts. Meanwhile, UNLV has dug holes for itself with poor defense, only to come from behind and win. In this matchup, both teams played according to script. The Falcons jumped out to a 21-10 lead only to blow it and turn it into a back-and-forth affair. The Rebels pulled it out with a late score and were later aided by some bad clock management by Air Force. UNLV is now 6-0 and is the first Mountain West team to be bowl-eligible.
Cowboys come from behind to top Spartans
It looked like San Jose State was going to run away with this one. Stud wide receiver Danny Scudero had 4 TD catches in the first half as they led 28-14. But Wyoming mounted a comeback with 21 fourth-quarter points thanks to some highlight-reel-worthy plays on offense. The Cowboys put up 409 yards on offense and forced three turnovers in their come-from-behind win.
Broncos endure Lobos
Both defenses came to play early. Boise State forced two early turnovers, but only mustered three points. New Mexico actually led 14-10 thanks to a huge kickoff return. The Lobos hung around, but the Broncos found another gear in the fourth quarter. The offense found the endzone through the air and on the ground, turned a botched FG attempt into a touchdown, and forced three turnovers in the game. The talent won out, but penalties and special teams are still issues.
Rainbow Warriors knock off Aggies.
In the contest between two exciting offenses, Hawaii emerged as the victor. Micah Alejado was passing all over the field, 54 times to be exact, going for 413 yards and 3 TDs, all to Pofele Ashlock. Just as important, the Rainbow Warriors’ defense stepped up when it needed to, limiting the Aggies to 26 points despite going for 435 yards, but they were only 2 for 12 on third down on the day.
