Despite all the transfer business that Liverpool did this summer, one move alluded The Reds: the attempted transfer of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace at a cut-rate fee with just a year left to go on his contract.
That failed move seems to have had worse reprocussions for Liverpool than initially anticipated, especially after the season-long injury to Giovanni Leoni after just 75 minutes.
Even without the injury, The Reds have been screaming out for defensive reinforcements for most of the season. Ibou
Konate’s performances have been, eh-hem, not great, and another senior defender to fill in (or just take the spot as his own) would be a valuable asset to have in the squad.
However, Liverpool will not be the only ones in for Guehi after his contract expires this summer. Real Madrid are also rumored to be linked, and we all know how much they love a free transfer.
According to reports out of Spain, if Guehi can be assured a starting role for Los Blancos, then they’ll be favorites to capture his signature this summer.
We get it Real, we’d also probably take Guehi over Konate at this point too.
