The Miami Hurricanes are in the College Football Playoff and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were left on the outside looking in. It turns out that 1) ND doesn’t have all the cards and 2) head-to-head wins
matter more than quality losses when both teams are 10-2.
Now ND isn’t just out of the playoff, but they’ve opted out of the bowl season as well.
ToneyToniTen: Is it safe to drink Irish tears?
Dear JD: Mr. Toney I wouldn’t drink those Irish tears. You might become a victim of entitlement and start to quit as soon as everything in college football doesn’t go exactly your way. A first round match-up in College Station won’t be easy and we don’t need you folding at the first sign of adversity like the Irish.
FrostedSinnamonRoll: Dear JD: Why won’t Marcus Freeman eat me?!
Dear JD: Frosty, I’m not sure why Freeman doesn’t want to take a good healthy bite out of you. Maybe he’s afraid his team won’t win the Pop-Tarts Bowl and thus he’ll be stuck watching the other squad chow down on an edible mascot?
Joey_Galloway_Burner: I can’t believe the committee ignored my ND favoritism!
Dear JD: I’m sorry to hear that the Irish team you didn’t play for was left out of the playoff. But Mr. Galloway that wasn’t really a question as much as a statement. Don’t worry Joey, there’s still hope that you can watch the ‘Canes beat THE Ohio State Buckeyes butt in round two. But for now you can go sip those Irish Tears, sir.
For many SOTU readers this is the first time Miami has had a clear shot at a national championship and I want you to just enjoy the ride. Whether you troll or don’t troll just remember 6-7 and 7-6 were a mere three and four seasons ago. Have fun this winter!
