The Tennessee Volunteers landed one of the biggest talents regardless of position in the 2027 recruiting class last month when they secured the commitment of Chattanooga Baylor RB David Gabriel Georges. Josh Heupel and Vols RB coach De’Rail Sims managed to snare his commitment over Ryan Day and Ohio State and Pete Golding and Ole Miss.
Gabriel Georges showed his junior year that he’s a walking highlight film. He was the engine that carried Baylor to an undefeated state title in 2025. It did not take
him long to show off his elite talent his senior year, and Vol fans have to be grinning and chuckling to themselves.
On Friday night against Buford (GA) in a high-profile scrimmage, Gabriel Georges broke free and ripped off a 54-yard touchdown, leaving defenders in his wake.
And this wasn’t some small-time program that DGG and Baylor were going up against. Buford is ranked in the top 25 nationally by MaxPreps, checking in at No. 7. Baylor was No. 12. Buford went on to win the scrimmage 20-13.
With DGG committing to the state’s flagship university, his play is going to be highlighted even further going forward among East Tennessee media outlets, so Vol fans will have an easier time seeing just what Tennessee is going to be getting after this year is over.
And it looks like they’ll be getting someone who can be an immediate difference maker in the backfield in what could be a very promising 2027 season on Rocky Top.
