What makes John Harbaugh a great coach? We asked his opponents | The Athletic
Mike Macdonald, Seahawks head coach: “I think the first thing with John is just the person that he is. One thing I’ve learned is you can’t hide who you are. So for him to be able to do that at this level for this long, I mean, if that’s not the staple of what a real deal, authentic leader is about then I don’t know what is … Man of faith, man of integrity, ultra competitive. I think one thing that John and Jim (Harbaugh) do that resonated with me is the support
they have for their players of always having their backs, always putting the team first — and the players realize that. They know when you’re for them or not. And John’s been for his players his whole career, and he’s a great example for coaching across the world.”

Rueben Bain Jr. says Giants’ Brian Burns is among NFL’s best edge rushers | USAToday.com
At the NFL Scouting Combine, top 2026 draft prospect Rueben Bain Jr.— widely viewed as one of the premier edge rushers entering the draft— openly praised Burns while naming his favorite pass rushers.
“No order, I’m going Myles Garrett and Nick Bosa. Those are my favorite two,” Bain Jr. said. “After that, I’ll go, Maxx Crosby — no specific order — Brian Burns and Trey Hendrickson.”
NFL Combine notebook: Whispers on the Giants and league in Indianapolis | New York Daily News
Giants senior vice president of football operations and strategy Dawn Aponte, a direct report to John Harbaugh, is indeed overseeing and leading Giants free agent meetings here at the NFL Combine.
Director of football operations Ed Triggs and high-ranking members of the scouting department, including director of pro scouting Chris Rossetti, are the principles representing the organization in these conversations in Indianapolis with Aponte at the helm. Schoen is handling the scouting side of the week, with Harbaugh grinding film and contributing in the personnel department, too. Harbaugh is in charge, and that is clear to people meeting with the Giants.

2026 NFL Mock Draft: Who Lands Micah Parsons 2.0? Giants, Chiefs Grab Top WRs | FOX Sports
5. New York Giants (4-13): Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State. This is an all-important developmental year for QB Jaxson Dart, and receiver might be a need, with wideouts Malik Nabers hurt (ACL) and Wan’Dale Robinson slated to hit free agency.
Predicting fifth-year option decisions for the 2023 NFL Draft class | PFF
24. CB Deonte Banks, New York Giants. Since 2023, Banks’ 42.4 PFF coverage grade is the third-lowest among 142 cornerbacks in the NFL. Along those lines, his 1,680 yards allowed in coverage are the 21st-most, while the 14 touchdowns given up are the eighth-most among cornerbacks. There’s just not much to cling to in the way of hope if you’re a Giants fan hoping that Banks can turn a corner. After starting his first 29 games in the NFL, Banks played a bit-part role in 2025 on just 459 snaps — down from 788 a year ago.
Banks’ ability to withstand the run has dwindled, too. He secured a 61.6 PFF run-defense grade in his rookie season, but that dropped to a 36.7 in 2025, 106th among cornerbacks. Those inconsistencies and poor performance are likely the writing on the wall for Banks. Prediction: Decline
