Yikes.
There is no doubt about it: Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) production is top-notch and ranks among the best in all of sports.
But for some reason, UFC just cannot get guests’ names right on the broadcast.
Especially boxers.
Two years ago at UFC 306, the broadcast royally screwed up boxing legend Terence Crawford’s lower third and identified him as Grammy Award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar
.Well, UFC production has done it again.
During the UFC 329 broadcast last
night (Sat., July 11, 2026), cameras showed undefeated boxer and brand-new Zuffa Boxing signee Shakur Stevenson in the crowd. However, instead of identifying Stevenson correctly, UFC’s broadcast labeled him as Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams.
During the UFC 329 post-fight press conference, UFC CEO Dana White exploded in a rant about the latest broadcast screw-up.
“So, I tell you all the time, my production team is amazing,” White said. “We just did the White House. We built a f—king arena on the South Lawn of the White House, and it was the greatest f—king thing in the world to be there live and to watch it on TV. I just paid Shakur Stevenson a s—t load of money, and for some reason, we can’t figure this celebrity s—t out. They put him up as a f—king OKC NBA player. Are you f—king kidding me?”
“It’s absolutely crazy,” White continued. “We are the absolute worst to ever do the celebrity thing. When we put celebrities up, we are the worst. I just had this f—king debate in the back with my guys while I was screaming at everybody back there, and they said, ‘No, soccer’s worse. Soccer shows the people, and they don’t put up any graphics.’ Oh no. We put up f—king graphics and put the wrong guy’s name on them. We win. We’re the worst ever to f—king do it.”
The good news?
White at least seems to know how bad it looks.
The bad news is UFC keeps doing it anyway.
From Crawford getting labeled Lamar to Stevenson getting mistaken for Williams, UFC’s celebrity cam is turning into must-see TV for all the wrong reasons.
And after White just handed Stevenson a “s—t load of money” to help launch Zuffa Boxing, confusing him with an NBA player is probably not the best way to welcome him to the family.
