The Cincinnati Bengals had arguably the worst defense in the NFL last season, and it was clear the front office needed to do something quickly to save the Joe Burrow era.
The front office brought in some incredible talent for the defensive side of the ball, including veteran defensive tackle Jonathan Allen.
That signing hasn’t been talked about enough because of the hype around Dexter Lawrence, but bringing in someone like Allen is a massive rotational move for the defense.
Allen was recently asked
about his thoughts on the Bengals defense so far in camp and graded the d-line, specifically saying, “I give it a B.”
“I think we’ve done a lot of good things, a lot of things that we can improve on. But you know, at the end of the day, we’re just stacking days. None of this really matters until we do it on game day,” Allen said, per Mike Petraglia.
The Bengals d-line now has guys like Allen, Lawrence, BJ Hill, TJ Slaton, and others that can build off each other this season.
Normally the Bengals offense is flying around and having their way during training camp, but this season it has been a little different.
The new and improved d-line has caused some issues for the offense during camp, which is great to see!
