Lamine Yamal has offered a bit of insight into his relationship with Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and the advice the German coach has given him.
The teenager is already a vital player for Barcelona and says that Flick wants him to be himself and enjoy his football when he’s out on the pitch.
“Yes, I talk to him a lot. He instills a lot of confidence in me and tells me to enjoy myself, be brave, and not lose my game. That gives me a lot of peace of mind when I go out to play,” told Mundo Deportivo.
Yamal has taken on the No. 10 shirt this season and Barcelona and is now also taking penalties and free-kicks for the Catalan giants.
He says that he does feel wearing the iconic shirt brings extra responsibility.
“The number 10 has always been linked to taking responsibility. I like it; I want to be prepared for those important moments,” he added.
Yamal is also eager to improve on last season’s brilliant campaign. He scored 18 goals and contributed 25 assists, numbers he’s eager to emulate.
“I don’t like to set an exact goal figure, but I do want to improve on last season’s numbers. In the end, the most important thing is to get three points in every game,” he explained.
Yamal already has two goals and two assists from just three La Liga games so far this season for Barcelona.
