Just like that, the 2025 Football season is beginning to wind down.
Oregon’s second season in the new Big Ten has been another successful one, even if at times they haven’t appeared to be playing up to their
potential.
If the Ducks want to host a playoff game, which would be the first ever at Autzen Stadium, they’ll have to win their final two regular season games against their two most despised rivals from the old Pac-12.
First, USC pays another visit to Eugene, a place that has been less than friendly to them over the past 20 years, with a 2-4 record.
Gameday will make their second trip to UO for the first time since 2007, when Oregon was an ACL away from playing for a National Championship.
It’s tough to gauge exactly how good the Trojans are. They’re dead even at 2-2 against Top 25 teams this season, but one thing a Lincoln Riley team is not going to have issues with is putting points on the board.
Oregon’s defense, its staple all season, will need to be ready.
Then comes a trip up to Seattle for the first time since the 2023 instant classic that didn’t go Oregon’s way.
Granted, this is not a DeBoer/Penix team, but it won’t be a stroll in the park up there either.
The Huskies are also a tad mysterious, as they were romped by both Ohio State and Michigan, had an impressive thumping of #21 Illinois, but then a less-than-impressive loss to Wisconsin.
UW has put over 40 on the board four times this season, but has also been held to 10 or less thrice.
Their quarterback is like a minnow in shallow water, so the defense, again, will have to be on their toes.
There is, of course, a very outside shot of Oregon playing in Indianapolis, but in all realism, a home playoff game is the goal right now.
Fitting that it comes down to games against hated foes from the Pac-12 days.
The “good old days”.
As in…two years ago.
