The Guardians’ manager announced at today’s end-of-season press conference that he will be staying in Cleveland.
You can read Zack Meisel’s write-up here and Tim Stebbins’ here.
After some speculation this week from Anthony Castrovince and Meisel that Vogt might possibly consider the Seattle managerial opening, Vogt put those possibilities to bed. The family lives in Washington when it is not summer because of a desire to have their kids not have to deal with the change of moving to Northeast Ohio,
but they will continue to make the split time work.
Vogt also said they expect the whole coaching staff to return. I hate that they aren’t looking to hire outside for at least one position, but I didn’t expect any different. Sounds like Carl Willis is leaning toward returning, which is great.
Overall, great news! Vogt is definitely one of baseball’ best and we are lucky to have him. Now, on to worrying if they will trade Kwan and Gavin Williams! (Kidding, kind of).
