Chelsea’s only match of consequence remaining this season is on Sunday — barring some absolute miracle recovery in the league — as we take on historic rivals Leeds United in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley. The national stadium used to be our second home but that hasn’t really been the case for a while, and our record there is fairly horrendous (especially in finals).
Of course, we first would have to get to the final, and given recent form, that’s far from guaranteed. In fact, it might be the opposite.
Leeds are not a good team, but they are in good form. We are not a good team, and we are in historically bad form, and the players have all checked out by now.
Interim head coach Calum McFarlane’s hoping to get João Pedro and Cole Palmer back, but would they even make a difference? It’s a sad situation, any way you slice it.
