With the Brewers’ excellent 2025 season that defied expectations, president of baseball operations Matt Arnold was a heavy favorite to take home the MLB Executive of the Year award. That was confirmed during the MLB Awards show tonight, as Arnold was named Executive of the Year for the second straight year. He is the first executive to win this award multiple times.
Serving as the Brewers’ General Manager since 2021 (and later promoted to executive vice president), Arnold had one of the most successful seasons for a GM. Though he didn’t make any big splashes in free agency, his big offseason trade of Devin Williams brought in Caleb Durbin, who finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year race. He then made a few trades during the season that had huge impacts on the team. This included the early-season trade for Quinn Priester and the mid-season trade of Aaron Civale that brought in Andrew Vaughn.
Because of his massive impact on the Brewers, Arnold was promoted to president of baseball operations this offseason. He was previously the executive vice president and general manager, though he will also retain the general manager title following this promotion.
The Executive of the Year award was established for the 2018 MLB season. It is voted on by executives of all 30 MLB teams prior to the postseason.
