In the weeks leading up to last night’s (Sat., Sept. 20, 2025) Wrestlepalooza premium live event at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, Stephanie Vaquer was largely, and suspiciously, absent from WWE television. There wasn’t much word on exactly why that was the case, a strange circumstance considering she was about to challenge for the women’s world championship in what looked like it could be her brightest moment on the main roster.
As it turned out, that’s exactly what it was.
Indeed,
Vaquer defeated Iyo Sky to win the vacant title and it sure sounds like they are strapping the rocket to her from here. While praising her during the post show, Triple H made clear exactly what she means to the company while explaining her absence from TV:
“She absolutely does have it all, and I’ll let everybody in on a behind-the-scenes secret to Stephanie — in the last few weeks, Stephanie has been very sick. She had a… I don’t know the details of what the… a flu type thing going on, but she was very sick. It was why she missed the TV, it was why there was some odd build to it. She was able to feel well enough and get cleared medically to compete tonight. So for her to be able to do that against Iyo, who I consider one of the greatest women of all time in this industry, for her to have a win like that tonight to become the women’s world champion is incredible.”
Yeah, that makes sense!
As for Vaquer herself:
No flu like symptoms can keep a great wrestler down.
