Let’s get this divisional gauntlet underway.
Today, the Green Bay Packers start their sprint through the NFC North to finish out the 2025 regular season, with five divisional games in the last seven weeks.
First up is the first of two games against the Minnesota Vikings, whom the Packers will also play in the season finale.
So far, the Vikings are struggling to find their footing under new quarterback J.J. McCarthy. The second-year pro and first-year starter has been bad — there’s no sugar-coating that — and with Green Bay’s defense will need to do a better job of taking advantage of turnover opportunities than they did a week ago against the New York Giants. McCarthy has thrown at least one interception in every game he has played this season and his 5.7% interception rate leads the NFL by a wide margin.
Green Bay’s offense will need to be on its toes as well as they face an impressive Vikings defense, led by coordinator Brian Flores. Minnesota’s run defense has given up a lot of yardage this season, however, giving up at least 140 yards on the ground in three of the last four games. They are a bit better in terms of efficiency, however, ranking very close to league average in yards per carry allowed (14th) and EPA per run allowed (20th). If the Packers can continue to hold on to the football and avoid giveaways against this Vikings defense, they should be in good shape.
