The New York Jets lost their seventh straight game to start the 2025 season on Sunday. The Jets squared off against the Carolina Panthers at home in East Rutherford, New Jersey and fell to the Panthers in an ugly 13 – 6 affair. The Jets had just 220 yards of total offense, and they allowed more sacks by the Panthers than the Panthers had racked up in all their previous games this season combined.
Despite the complete ineptitude of the Jets offense, the Jets defense kept the team in the game right
up until the ignominious end. The Jets had the ball at their own 14 yard line with less than three minutes remaining in the game, with all their timeouts. Plenty of time to drive the length of the field and score a game tying touchdown. Unfortunately the Jets couldn’t even drive for a single first down. They went three and out and punted. The Panthers then ran out the clock without the Jets ever getting another play on offense. Another dismal loss in the books.
Now the Jets go on the road to face the 3-4 Cincinnati Bengals next week. The Bengals have struggled after quarterback Joe Burrow went down with a potentially season ending injury early in the season. They lost four straight games before beating the Pittsburgh Steelers this week. The Bengals traded for Joe Flacco a couple of weeks ago, and Flacco led them to a 33 point offensive explosion this week. The Bengals have needed big offensive performances to win this season, as their defense has been awful. They have given up 27+ points in each of their last six games. That may be just what the doctor ordered for an anemic Jets offense that hasn’t scored a first half touchdown since opening day.
Let’s take a look at the current odds for this game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The current line has the Jets road underdogs by 4.5 points. The game has an over/under of 44.5 points. On the moneyline the Jets are +200 while the Bengals are -245.
