The midweek result against Eintracht Frankfurt may have been nice, but there is still a challenging test up ahead as Liverpool men travel to Brentford on Saturday and hope to use the momentum of the high
scoring win to stop their stream of losses in the Premier League.
Conor Bradley, who came on for the injured Jeremie Frimpong twenty minutes in on Wednesday, told the club website on Friday that there’s a lot of benefits to take from the win and to carry into Saturday.
“It has been a difficult few weeks for us but that was good. But it’s only three points. We need to focus on the weekend now and hopefully get another win,” Bradley said.
“We’ll be ready for it. We’ll look at the clips the manager shows us and I’m sure we’ll be ready.
“We’re looking forward to it. It’s going to be another tough game and we can’t wait for it.”
The Reds went a goal down once again early in the match, with Rasmus Kristensen taking the lead for Frankfurt, but the old Mentality Monsters finally came back to the pitch as Hugo Ekitike equalized ten minutes later and Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate added to the scoreline before the break. Bradley agreed that it has been difficult to fight back in those instances, and they’re working on doing better.
“It’s difficult, especially with the last few games we’ve had, it’s been really difficult,” the defender continued.
“Obviously going 1-0 down, some teams probably would have caved in. But that’s not us. Fantastic to get a 5-1 win in the end and some really good performances out there.”
Bradley himself got injured during preseason and missed the first two matches after re-injuring himself, so the Northern Irishman himself acknowledges that the opening period of the season has had it’s own challenges for him and the squad full of new players. His goal now just needs to be staying fit so he can help the squad in whatever way he can.
“”It’s never nice getting an injury in pre-season,” Bradley said.
“Especially when I nearly got through it then I just picked up a little injury. It’s always disappointing and then it sort of kills the start of the season for you because you’re ready to go into it with full fitness and then you have a setback, so it’s difficult.
“It’s never nice but I just need to try to get my full fitness back now and try to play as many games and try to help the team as much as possible.
“I think you have to build relationships, which you can’t just do in one day. That’s over weeks and months and things like that.
“But I think all the new lads have settled in really well. They’re all really nice people first of all and obviously they’re all top players from what you see online from what they’ve done at their previous clubs and what they’re doing for us.
“They’re all top people, top players and I think we’re really lucky to have them.”
The Reds face Brentford on Saturday at 8pm GMT/3pm EST, and hopefully regain a few of the lost points over the past couple weeks.
