Fans haven’t seen the NXT Heritage Cup since Tony D’Angelo threw it off a bridge during his feud with a Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo last summer at Great American Bash.
The fact that you probably haven’t noticed the Heritage Cup was gone (for those that do watch NXT) or never knew it existed (those who don’t) likely explains why WWE seems to have unceremoniously retired it. Fans noticed it’s no longer listed
among the NXT champions on WWE.com’s roster page.
It had been there as recently as May 30; Stacks was still the Cup-holder/champion at the time.
The Heritage Cup was introduced in NXT UK prior to the pandemic. It was contested under British Rounds Rules, which WWE explained to us Yanks again when the Cup was moved to the main NXT brand after the United Kingdom branch was shuttered.
A-Kid, now Axiom, was the first champ. Noam Dar held the Cup the most, four times. Charlie Dempsey was the only other of the nine men who won the Cup to have won it more than once; he won it twice.
