The Blazer’s Edge Best Things Ever Tournament is down to the last few matchups of the first round! For those not in the know, over the last couple weeks—in addition to our usual coverage—we’ve been filling the slow time in NBA Summer with a series of polls. Each post lines up two good things against each other. They’re not related. They’re kind of random, in fact! You have one job: vote for one or the other and explain the reasoning for your vote. At the end, this March-Madness-style bracket will
culminate in the Best Thing Ever for 2026, based on your votes!
Today’s matchup pits Stairway to Heaven against Cows.
If you’re going to take one song from the Rock and Roll era, it’s hard to find one more iconic than Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”. It combines haunting, poetic ballad imagery with a thrashing, pure-rock conclusion. Sweet vocals meet hard-driving instruments. To top it off, it begins with a guitar riff so recognizable that many guitar shops had to ban it outright to avoid their staff going crazy from endless wannabees wanting to act it out on their instruments.
On the other hand…cows? Hamburgers, steaks, milk and its derivatives: cheese and butter. And leather too! Over-concentration pollutes the atmosphere the same way, “Doo doo doo doo doooooooo…” pollutes the air in those guitar shops, but where would be we without them?
What will it be for you in this head-to-head? Stairway to Heaven or Cows? Vote in the comments section and let us know why you chose what you chose!
