The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report of the week on Friday in advance of their Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers.
The Eagles ruled five players OUT: Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, Jalyx Hunt, and Michael Carter II.
The Eagles already ruled Hurts out when they announced the starting quarterback is dealing with a “superficial blood clot.” It’s unclear how much time Hurts will miss; estimates seem to vary from as little as a couple weeks to as most
as a season-ending issue. We all hope the best for Hurts’ health while he recovers. In the meantime, Tanner McKee will start at quarterback. It seems like Cole Payton will serve as the backup QB while new addition Joe Milton III could be the emergency third option, at least for Sunday’s game.
Barkley is missing his second straight game due to a hamstring injury. With Barkley out and now both Tank Bigsby and Shipley on injured reserve, the Eagles have two health running backs on their roster: Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele. Look for Pierce to start while Steele could be mixed in. The Eagles also have Jaydon Blue and Ian Wheeler on the practice squad if they want to use a temporary elevation for more backfield depth.
Hunt’s absence is no surprise since Vic Fangio said it would be “miraculous” if he played this week. It sounds like Hunt could avoid going on injured reserve, though. Hunt currently leads the Eagles in quarterback hits so losing him hurts a pass rush that already hasn’t been very productive.
MC2 got banged up in Week 5. He was previously the starting safety next to Andrew Mukuba in nickel packages after Marcus Epps suffered an injury. But now Carter is sidelined
The Eagles ruled one player DOUBTFUL: A.J. Epenesa.
Epenesa was limited on Wednesday before being downgraded to not practicing on Thursday and Friday. With Hunt out and Epenesa likely not playing, the Eagles will be without two of their five edge rushers.
The Eagles ruled five players QUESTIONABLE: Landon Dickerson, Drew Kendall, Eli Stowers, Grant Calcaterra, and Jakorian Bennett.
Dickerson was limited in practice all week. I have a hard time believing the Eagles will activate him from injured to play before he’s able to fully participate in at least one practice.
Kendall missed Wednesday’s practice before being limited on Thursday and Friday. Doesn’t seem conducive to him suiting up on Sunday. If neither Dickerson nor Kendall play, the Eagles will likely use their same starting offensive line from last week: LT Jordan Mailata, LG Willie Lampkin, C Jake Majors, RG Tyler Steen, RT Markel Bell. Continuity!!!!!
Stowers was a full participant in practice but it doesn’t seem like the Eagles will be in a rush to activate him from injured reserve. Ditto for Calcaterra and Bennett. The Eagles have until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday to make any roster moves prior to Sunday’s kickoff.
Players notably listed without a game status: DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Jonathan Greenard, Hollywood Brown, Tyler Steen, E.J. Jenkins, Mac McWilliams, Marcus Epps, Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, Andrew Mukuba, Jihaad Campbell, Arnold Ebiketie, Fred Johnson.
The big news is that DeVonta is returning to the field after missing the Eagles’ last two games due to a hamstring injury. The Eagles ramped DeVonta up this week from not practicing on Wednesday to being limited on Thursday to being full on Friday. The Eagles will hope that his hammy doesn’t flare up on him in this game because McKee could sure use DeVonta out there on Sunday.
In other good (!) news, Wicks is ready to play despite missing practice time this week due his hamstring injury. Wicks was limited on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday before being full go on Friday. The Eagles will have their top two receivers available for this game.
Greenard is also available to play despite being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He’s returning from an ankle injury he suffered in Week 4. Prior to that, Greenard missed the Eagles’ first two games before being on a pitch count in his Week 3 debut. The Eagles’ pass rush really needs him to step up and produce.
Brown, Steen, and Jenkins were upgraded to full go on Friday after being limited in the Eagles’ first two practices this week. Brown is returning to the field after missing the last three games.
McWilliams is a new addition to the report with a hamstring injury but the depth cornerback was full go on Friday.
Epps is set to be the safety next to Mukuba in nickel packages (as opposed to it being Cooper DeJean in base) now that he’s healthy and the aforementioned Michael Carter II is out.
Carter, Baun, Mukuba, Campbell, Ebiketie, and Johnson were all full go in practice all week.

CAROLINA PANTHERS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)
The Panthers ruled one player OUT: backup running back AJ Dillon.
There will be no revenge game (lol) for the former Eagles RB.
The Panthers ruled one player DOUTBFUL: rookie offensive tackle Monroe Freeling.
Freeling had been filling in for Taylor Moton at right tackle but now it seems like Moton is ready to play.
The Panthers ruled five players QUESTIONABLE: starting edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, starting right tackle Taylor Moton, starting guard Damien Lewis, starting defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton, and backup running back Trevor Etienne.
Phillips and Lewis were limited on Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to full go on Friday. Guessing they’ll be able to play.
Moton was full go in practice all week. Ditto for Wharton and Etienne. Seems like they’re going to suit up.
