Andrade is arguably the most popular he’s ever been in his US career, and he’s about to become even hotter. No, I’m not talking about pulling his pants off. Although, El Idolo did do that on AEW Collision (Aug. 5, 2026) to a rowdy reaction from the crowd and NJPW’s Walker Stewart on commentary.
After Andrade dispatched Gabe Kidd in a national title defense, he addressed his future both
as champion and future world champion. The Real Latino Man will cash in the Casino Gauntlet world title shot at the right time. Meanwhile, Andrade is focused on becoming the greatest national champion of all-time. El Idolo declared that he will defend the title every week. Hit the catchphrase. “You think I can not do this? I have one question. How you know?” The crowd rejoiced.
Defending the AEW National Championship every week is a smart move to keep Andrade hot, and it should make him even more interesting. The match against Kidd was entertaining as was Andrade’s antics outside the ring. He took a selfie with ring announcer Arkady Aura. When referee Aubrey Edwards gave him attitude, Andrade kissed her hand, and she melted with a smile.
Whenever AEW has fighting champions, that always turns to interesting times on screen. Andrade has a host of potential matchups on the roster. Thinking quickly off the top of my head, I’d like to see Hook, Beast Mortos, and Josh Alexander crack a shot on TV. Heck, imagine if Rush answered the call. Who would you love to see challenge Andrade?
As for the match against Kidd, enjoy the finish for Andrade’s victory via DM.
How you know?
