Former Arizona Wildcat guard Helena Pueyo started her college career as a member of the team that played for an NCAA title. She has spent the first two years of her professional career doing the same, helping Zaragoza compete for titles in the domestic and European leagues. After two years with the club, she is moving on to Valencia, the team that she and her former teammates lost to in last season’s Liga Femenina Endesa playoffs.
One Zaragoza fan noted the pattern for their club, posting, “What’s new! Our 13th to Valencia 🙈🙈 let’s see who we sign this year so you can start making room for them in two seasons 😅😅

The announcement came about a week after Zaragoza posted a thank-you to Pueyo on its social media accounts. It was just a matter of seeing where she was going next.
Pueyo will be joining a squad that has won four straight LF Endesa titles and 11 domestic titles overall. The club is the only one is Spain to have titles in both the men’s and women’s game.
Pueyo was drafted by the Connecticut Sun in April of 2024. She was waived in training camp and returned to her home country to play for Zaragoza. She became an immediate star. When offered the opportunity to join the Phoenix Mercury in training camp last year, she opted to stay in Spain and play for her team in the European.
This season, Pueyo helped her team earn the No. 1 seed in the playoffs for Spain’s top league. The group advanced to the finals but fell to third-seeded Valencia.
Zaragoza finished third in EuroLeague competition. They went 12-7 overall and beat Girona in the third-place game. Pueyo led the team in efficiency per game (12.4), blocks per game (0.4), and steals per game (2.3) during EuroLeague games.
She appeared in 18 of the team’s 19 EuroLeague games. She averaged 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists against 1.1 turnovers in 24.1 minutes per game. She hit 55.9 percent of her 2-point shots and 37.5 percent of her 3-pointers.
Pueyo averaged 23.1 minutes in 28 games in domestic play, helping the team to a 27-3 record. She was good for 9.5 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists against 0.9 turnovers, 0.4 blocks, and 2.0 steals. She hit 61.7 percent of her 2-pointers and 40.4 percent of her 3-point shots.
She also appeared for Spain in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. She appeared in five games with averages of 5.0 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.2 apg against 1.2 tov, 0.2 bpg, and 1.6 spg. She shot 45.5 percent from 2 and 40 percent from 3.
Pueyo regularly played four of the five positions on the floor for Arizona, although she was typically considered a guard. She is listed as both a guard and a small forward for Zaragoza.
