Miami continues to be the class of the State of Florida, with the Canes dominating Florida 26-7 on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami has moved up to #2 in the AP poll, which is their highest ranking
since the 2017 season. The Canes did not play their best, but the game was never in doubt as the defense smothered Florida. FSU is not far behind, as the Seminoles are inside the Top 10, and if they can take care of Virginia on Friday night, the game vs Miami will be one of the biggest games in the last 20 years. The remainder of the state is fairly nondescript, and Florida is screaming for a new coach as they fell to 1-3.
How do the rankings stand through four weeks of the college season?

1. Miami Hurricanes 4-0 – The Canes were dominant on the defense side of the ball in a convincing 26-7 win over Florida. Mark Fletcher Jr. and Charmar “Marty” Brown combined for 196 yards and 3 TDs on the ground to pace the offense. Rueben Bain Jr. continues to be the best player in all of college football with 10 pressures, and completely destroying Florida’s offensive line.

2. Florida State 3-0 – FSU finished the high school portion of their schedule with a demolition job of Kent St. 66-10. The Seminoles rolled for 775 yards and 37 1st downs in a game that was over in the 1st quarter. The Seminoles have been reborn under Gus Malzahn’s offense and the players they’ve brought in via the portal have stabilized the defense. The schedule will get tougher as the season goes along.
Next Game – @ Virginia Friday Night

3. USF 3-1 – Byrum Brown threw for 236 yards and 4 TDs as the Bulls rolled over South Carolina St 63-14. The Bulls needed this kind of an opponent after a tough game in Miami. Alex Golesh has an explosive offense that will give them an advantage against just about everyone left on their schedule, and a chance to make the College Football Playoffs.
Next Game – Charlotte October 3rd
4. UCF 3-0 – UCF destroyed North Carolina 34-9 to improve to 3-0 on the season. Tayven Jackson threw for 223 yards and ran for an additional 66 yards all while accounting for 2 TDs. They look much more comfortable the last 2 weeks on both offense and defense and now enter conference play with some confidence.
Next Game – @ Kansas St Saturday

5. Florida 1-3 – I really want to put Florida dead last, but defensively they are a good group who kept them in the game vs Miami. Now the offensive side of the ball is a disaster starting with Qb DJ Lagway. The Gators were held to 141 yards of total offense and 80 of those were on 1 drive. Florida was fortunate that a TD was incorrectly blown dead or the score would’ve been even more lopsided. Billy Napier is now on the hottest seat, and the question now is when, not if.
Next Game – Texas October 4th
6. FIU 2-2 – The Panthers were routed by the Delaware Blue Hens 38-16. Kayone Jenkins went 22/34 for 208 yards and a TD. The game fell apart in the 2nd quarter as they gave up 21 points. FIU stays out of the bottom spot based on their win over FAU a few weeks ago.
Next Game – @UCONN Saturday October 4th
7. FAU 1-2 – The Owls had an off week to lick their wounds after a 10 point loss to FIU. When your only win is vs FAMU, you sit at the bottom of our rankings. Business gets even tougher as unbeaten Memphis comes to Boca Raton.
Next Game – Memphis Saturday
