After an injury riddled 18 months of rehab, backfield games, and physical therapy, Jonny Farmelo, one of the top Mariner farm hands and a consensus top one hundred prospect in the game, is putting on a clinic
in the Arizona Fall League and proving he’s worthy of his lofty rankings despite a somewhat limited track record. With an outstanding 1.038 OPS, Farmelo is walking at roughly the same rate he’s striking out and punishing baseballs consistently. His swing is in a really good spot right now.
Perhaps even more promising, Farmelo has been getting a bit more active on the basepaths than he was during the regular season. After returning from his ACL tear in 2024, Farmelo has understandably had to ease off the aggression on the basepaths, but he’s already swiped three thus far in just a handful of games. A healthy Farmelo is a menace in the run game, and seeing him being at “full go” for the first time this season is an incredibly exciting sight to see.
Farmelo looks geared up for a true breakout in 2026. If everything clicks, he has the potential to be amongst the most elite prospects in the league and should have every opportunity to prove that’s the case on the field. A dedicated a diligent worker, look for Farmelo to explode on to the scene next season.
