Week 5 is done and dusted in the NFL. We’re on to Week 6…
Sam LaPorta, Jack Campbell, and Geno Stone
We start Week 5 in Cincinnati, where the Burrow-less Bengals continue to struggle. Bad time to play the surging
Lions. We’ll start with the Lions, a 37-24 winner to improve to 4-1. LaPorta started the scoring for the Lions, hauling in his first touchdown of the season.
LaPorta finished with 5 receptions for 92 yards and the above touchdown. Solid overall season for LaPorta so far and now he’s on the scoreboard as well.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jack Campbell again led the Lions in tackles. Campbell finished with 11 tackles (3 solo), a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble as the Lions led this game 28-3 going into the fourth quarter.
On the other sideline, Stone finished with 6 tackles, including 4 solo, and a tackle for loss as the Bengals lost their third-straight game. It’s just not the same in Cincy with Burrow out. So naturally, the right move behind that offensive line is to trade for Joe Flacco.
Riley Moss and Cooper DeJean
Game of the Week, courtesy of your 3-2 (should be 5-0) Denver Broncos! Former Iowa corners Moss and DeJean squared off in Philly, with the Eagles having won 20 of their last 21 games. Both played well, with each registering 5 tackles – 4 solo for DeJean, 2 for Moss – and a pass defended, while DeJean also registered a tackle for loss. He probably should have had a forced fumble, but it was ruled incomplete instead.
The tweet is misleading – this was overturned and ruled incomplete. Tough reversal on that call. Tough few days for Philly, with the Phillies on the verge of seeing their season end and the Eagles losing for just the second time in 22 games. Very tough life!
T.J. Hockenson
Quiet week for Hock, as the Vikings came from behind to beat the Browns, 21-17, in Wembley Stadium Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (ridiculous, Spurs hosting these games…) Hockenson finished with 6 receptions for 38 yards as the Vikings improved to 3-2.
I don’t know, this was a quiet week for former Hawks so this review is a short one. Let’s finish with a little potpourri. AJ Epenesa had 1/2 a sack in Buffalo’s 23-20 loss to the Patriots. Noah Fant was active for Cincinnati, though recorded no stats. Glad to have him back. Amani Hooker had 4 tackles in Tennessee’s gonzo 22-21 comeback win over Arizona. George Kittle is still out. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said Week 6 is a long shot for Kittle, with Week 7 the more likely return date.
