Robin Roefs: 7/10
Didn’t have an awful lot to do today with Everton very rarely threatening but stepped up when it matter with a brilliant scramble across his goalline to get something on what should have been an equaliser. No chance with the opening goal after it took a big deflection.
Lutsharel Geertruida: 7/10
Tidy on the ball as usual and was never really threatened down his side until a late cross that Roefs did well to keep out.
Nordi Mukiele: 8/10
Dominant in the air throughout and coasted through the game.
Omar Alderete: 6/10
Looked very comfortable defensively and on the ball
before picking up an injury to his side after 20 minutes.
Reinildo: 7/10
Kept Everton quiet down his side of the pitch, got beaten in the air for Everton’s one proper chance late on but that was more to do with the big height difference.
Trai Hume: 5/10
Put in his typical good shift off the ball but struggled again to make an impact going forward, which is a bigger issue when he’s starting on the wing.
Granit Xhaka (C): 7/10
Shielded the defence well and kept the ball ticking, deflected Everton’s goal past Roefs but had a good, not great game.
Noah Sadiki: 6/10
Much quieter than normal, still got around the pitch well but .
Nilson Angulo: 6/10
Had some lively moments down the left and gave O’Brien a difficult game, without any moments that might have resulted in a shot.
Enzo Le Fee: 8/10
Set Brobbey away for the equaliser and then fired home the winner after being picked out by Rigg. Was relatively quiet today but popped up when it most matter, which is the sign of a great player.
Brian Brobbey: 7/10
Gave both centre backs a really difficult game, held the ball up well and tracked back well to help out defensively but never got a single chance until Le Fee played him in and then he finished in style.
Substitutes
Luke O’Nien: 9/10
Everton barely threatened today but almost every time there was a dangerous ball around our box it was O’Nien who was there to clear it away with either a strong tackle or a good diving header.
Chemsdine Talbi: 6/10
Gave us an extra bit of pace out wide as we went looking for the win.
Habib Diarra: 8/10
Messed up a counter attack at one point, but gave us an immediate lift with his energy when he came on. Closed down Pickford straight away, then both the second and third goals came from his crosses, the second of which will go down as his assist.
Chris Rigg: 7/10
Got an assist when he laid the ball off for Le Fee inside the Everton box and put in a good defensive shift.
Wilson Isidor: 7/10
Was always an option in behind, he wasn’t picked out when he made the runs but stroked home the third goal after running onto Diarra’s cross.
Man of the Match: Luke O’Nien
O’Nien only came on as a substitute after Omar Alderete picked up a knock but he had an excellent game at the back. Read the game really well to make a number of important blocks and tackles around the 18-yard box, defended resolutely and very tidy on the ball to boot.
