May results
Despite ending the first month of the season with a 16-14 record, it was a bumpy first month for the D-backs. The pitching and defense in particular struggled, allowing an average of 5.5 runs per game. Arizona’s ERA of 5.09 ranked them 28th in the majors, a large factor in why the team had been outscored by 24 runs through the end of April. While Corbin Carroll had been as productive as ever, and the rookie performance of Jose Fernandez was a nice surprise, Ketel Marte and Gerardo Perdomo were falling
short of their 2025 output, leaving the offense in the middle of the pack with regard to run production.
Did that dampen fan confidence? Unsurprisingly, it certainly did…
Of course, it likely helped that the April poll came just after the team had come off an emphatic sweep of the Tigers, a team which reached the Division Series last postseason. That culminated in Zac Gallen out-dueling the reigning AL Cy Young winner, Tarik Skubal, in a 1-0 win. It’s fair to conclude this might somewhat have created excessive feelings of early schedule confidence. The 7’s which were the most popular category after that, became mostly 4’s and 5’s a month later. The overall result knocked more than a point and a half off, dropping from 6.39 to 4.78. There’s been considerably worse though: in both 2016 and 2024, the May poll wiped more than three full points off fan confidence.
Below, you can see the breakdown for the past 12 polls’ results, followed by the line graph showing the trends over this and previous seasons.

June poll
A solid May, with a winning record for the D-backs. This was fuelled in particular by strong performances against their divisional rivals from San Francisco and Colorado – thirteen games against them, led to eleven wins for Arizona. Against everyone else, okay, we were not so effective: the Diamondbacks went 4-11. But the team still ended the month comfortably above .500 and tied for the final NL wild-card spot. Was that just the result of beating up on weak opposition? Or is the improvement – particularly on the pitching side, which had one of the best months in a long time – real and sustainable?
That’s what the poll below would be for. You can explain your decision in the comments, especially if your vote has changed from last time.
